Actuators
Electric or pneumatic?
Both fit the same Baelz valves. The choice depends on your air supply, your controls and what the valve must do when the power or the air fails.
Electric
373-E07 · 373-E08
- Needs only power: 24 V or 230 V, no air line
- Wires straight to a PLC; the E08 talks Modbus RTU
- Fail-safe spring module on the E08: choose it with the order, it cannot be added later
Pneumatic
373-P21
- Spring return built in: the valve opens or closes on its own if the air fails
- Fast, with a stroke time you can set
- Needs clean instrument air, up to 6 bar

Where they work

Thermal-oil heating
Three-way valves mix or divert thermal oil to stenters, presses and reactors. A bellows seal with a cooling tube keeps the oil inside at the stem.
Textile -
Steam pressure and temperature
Two-way valves hold the pressure or the product temperature on heat exchangers, dryers and heating cylinders. On corrugator single facers, Baelz valves with a controller take over from hand-set gate valves.
Corrugator -
Hot water circuits
Three-way valves blend the return with the supply, so process and heating water leave at a steady temperature.

A new actuator on an old valve
When the actuator on a Baelz valve fails, a new 373 goes on the same valve. The pipework stays as it is.

The Jetomat’s own actuator
The same 373 actuators move the nozzle spindle of the Jetomat thermocompressor, so one spares kit serves both.

Control valves & actuators: FAQ
Can you supply a new actuator for a Baelz valve we already have?
Yes. We keep baelz 373-E07 electric actuators in stock in India, in 24 V and 230 V. Send us the details on the valve’s type plate (model, size and stroke) and we will confirm the fit.
Electric or pneumatic: which actuator should I choose?
Pneumatic when you need a fast valve that fails safe on its own: the spring closes or opens it if the air goes. Electric when there is no good instrument air, or when you want the valve wired straight into your PLC. On an electric actuator the fail-safe has to be chosen with the order.
What is the highest temperature a Baelz control valve can take?
The standard valves are rated up to 350 °C. For hotter duties Baelz builds control valves up to 450 °C as a custom design: tell us the medium, the pressure and the temperature.
Which fluids are they for?
Water, steam, thermal oil and gases. For thermal oil and high temperatures we use a bellows seal with a cooling tube at the stem.
How do you size a control valve?
From your flow, the pressures before and after the valve and the medium, we work out the valve’s flow coefficient (Kvs), then choose the body size and the plug characteristic. Our free academy lesson on control valve selection for steam walks through the same steps.
Do you supply the positioner and the controller too?
Yes. Positioners for the pneumatic actuators and temperature controllers come with the valve, so it arrives as one working control loop.
